Storm Get Mauled By Panthers In 11-2 Loss (Oct.5/13)

Jacob Spicer of the Port Hope Panthers, contributed 6 points in the Panthers win over the Deseronto Storm 11-2, in Deseronto Saturday night. Port Hope opened up the scoring midway through the first when Kyle Sullivan found the back of the net. Before the end of the period the Panthers would net 2 more giving them a 3-0 lead.

The second period was much like the first, with Port Hope scoring 5 more unanswered goals.
Jacob Spicer received 4 of his 6 points on the night, in the second period, with 2 goals and 3 assists. Midway through the second period the Storm pulled Shaun Hadley and put Brock Tufts in net. Hadley faced 25 shots in his 29 minute performance, allowing 4 goals. As the second period came to an end, the Storm were feeling the effects of a short bench and losing Brandon Turner to a minor facial injury.

Down 8-0 entering the third period, all the Deseronto Storm could hope for was a miracle to come back. A miracle did not happen but at 9 minutes into the frame, Nick Ferguson was able to sneak one past Panthers goalie, Matt Loveys, ruining the shut out run. Grabbing the helpers were Noah Sager and Jared Boomhower. Port Hope would go on to net 3 more goals in the third. With just minutes left in the game, Noah Sager of the Storm was able to add a second goal to the score sheet for Deseronto. As time expired Port Hope sailed to an easy victory, defeating the Storm 11-2.

The Storm have now been out scored 31-7 in their last 3 games and are sitting at an 0-4 record to start the season. The Storm return to action today (Oct.6/13) as they travel to Amherstview and then travel to Napanee on Tuesday.
